Microsoft Backup Problem.
Volgens mij kun je beter zo'n foto archief apart backuppen en acronis alleen gebruiken om je windows systeem partitie met alle geïnstalleerde programma's te backuppen. Eén keer per maand maak ik met Acronis True Image een complete backup (image) naar deze 3 backup schijven (duurt 1 uur per backup).

If the directory structures are written to the image file first, they're not gunna have the result of the changes in the image file. Isn'ta new directory being created on the partition being copied to when using a Windows backup program? I didnt mean a directory in that sense, even just the creation of a new file

You know very well Mark that you don't try to run other programs when you do backups. No more than you do when you image your drive. Maybe there was some confusion in here, but one of the advantages some people claim for Windows backup is the ability to do other things with the computer during a backup.

I assume in the event of being unable to boot into WINXP, you can restart using the CD then restore the system using the backup, is this how it works? Thinking aloud, I guess you need to restore from outside of Windows so would need a boot CD, similar to True Image. Anyway, is there any reason why I should not use

You can also use the ghost explorer to look into the image file and see the contents of the image just like you see your C: drive in windows explorer. You havn't said what your backup medium is. If you are using Norton Ghost, or Drive Image you can backup to CD-Rs and it will "span" them without trouble.
